Patiala, August 20, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
The Misl Satluj Party has extended its full support to the Punjab bandh called by the Qaumi Insaaf Morcha on August 21 in support of its demands for the release of incarcerated Sikh prisoners and parole for Jathedar Jagtar Singh Hawara.
The party has appealed to people across Punjab to participate in the bandh peacefully and in a disciplined manner.
In a statement, Manjit Singh Chahal, the party’s candidate from the Patiala Rural Assembly constituency, said Misl Satluj president Ajaypal Singh Brar had called upon party leaders, workers and the people of Punjab to ensure the bandh’s success while maintaining peace and restraint.
Chahal said the party believed that every citizen had the democratic right to raise their voice peacefully in support of their demands for justice.
He urged those participating in the bandh to treat commuters, traders, shopkeepers and other members of the public with respect and cooperation and ensure that no one faced unnecessary inconvenience.
According to Chahal, the bandh will remain in force from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on August 21. Schools and colleges will remain closed during this period, while hospitals and medicine shops have been exempted from the bandh.
He said emergency services and the essential needs of the public would be kept out of the disruption.
Chahal appealed to people to maintain peace, restraint and communal harmony while extending their support to the demands raised by the Qaumi Insaaf Morcha and contributing to the peaceful success of the Punjab bandh.
