Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday conferred state awards on 29 eminent personalities for their outstanding contribution in various fields and honoured 25 police personnel for bravery, distinguished service and exceptional duty on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day.
The awards were presented during a state-level Independence Day function in Ferozepur. Five police personnel received the Chief Minister’s Rakshak Padak for bravery and distinguished service, while 20 others were conferred the Chief Minister’s Medal for Outstanding Duty.
Congratulating the awardees, Mann said the state honours recognised individuals who had made dedicated contributions to society and public welfare. He said the recipients included social workers, artistes, litterateurs, poets, environmentalists, experts and government officials whose work had made a meaningful impact in their respective fields.
Among the 29 state award recipients, Jagdev Singh of Bathinda was honoured for bravery. Inderjit Singh of Malerkotla, Surinder Jagat of Jalandhar, Sunita Kapoor of Jalandhar, Sukhdeep Singh Dhillon of Bathinda, Avtar Singh Mann of Bathinda, Upinder Singh Ghai of Jalandhar, Jasvir Singh of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Jatinder Singh of SAS Nagar, Vinod Kumar of Amritsar, Avtar Singh of Amritsar, Pardeep Kumar of Sangrur and Nirmal Singh of Amritsar were recognised for social service.
Satveer Kaur of Patiala received the award for art. Mehar Malik of Jalandhar, Beant Singh Bajwa of Barnala, Sanjeev Saini of SAS Nagar, Baaj Singh of Patiala, Dr Mohammed Ayub Khan of Malerkotla, Premlata of Sangrur and Paramjit Kaur of Amritsar were honoured for literature.
Dr Parminder Singh of Amritsar was recognised for health services, while Talwinder Singh of Kapurthala and Sukhraj Bhullar of Ludhiana received awards for science and technology. Kamaljit Singh of Ludhiana, Kanta of Amritsar and Ashok Kumar of SAS Nagar were honoured for outstanding duty.
The Chief Minister’s Rakshak Padak was presented to Head Constable Lovepreet Singh, Constable Baby Kumar, Lady Constable Charanjit, Lady Constable Mamta Rani and Senior Constable Angrej Singh.
The Chief Minister’s Medal for Outstanding Duty was conferred on Pawanpreet PPS, Surinder Singh PPS, Ashwani Kumar PPS, Inspector Rajesh Kumar, Inspector Gurmeet Singh, Inspector Davinder Singh, Inspector Satpal, Sub Inspector Inderjit Kaur, Sub Inspector Sandeep Kumar, Sub Inspector Karamjit Singh, Sub Inspector Baldev Singh, Sub Inspector Sukhwinder Singh, ASI Yadwinder Singh, ASI Narinder Sidhu, ASI Navtej Singh Brar, ASI Jatinder Singh, Senior Constable Amanpreet Singh, Senior Constable Ramanpreet Singh, Inspector Harjot Kaur and Senior Constable Amardeep Singh.
Mann congratulated all the recipients and said their dedication and commitment would inspire others to serve society with sincerity and contribute to the welfare and progress of Punjab.
