AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday urged people to book their free passes for the play ‘Hamare Ram’, starring veteran actor Ashutosh Rana, which will be staged in Hoshiarpur on September 4 and 5.
Addressing devotees at the ‘Ek Shaam Bhagwan Shiv Ke Naam’ devotional evening in Hoshiarpur, Kejriwal said the play had received widespread appreciation following its shows in Punjab and encouraged people to secure their seats in advance.
The event, attended by Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, resonated with chants of ‘Har Har Mahadev’ and featured a large gathering of devotees.
Kejriwal said the Bhagwant Mann government was organising ‘Hamare Ram’ free of cost for the people of Punjab. “A magnificent play called ‘Hamare Ram’ has started in Mohali. Everyone who has watched it is saying that they have never seen a play on Lord Ram like this before. The play will also be staged in Hoshiarpur on September 4 and 5,” he said.
He urged people to book their passes early, saying seats were limited. Kejriwal also claimed that the play costs around Rs 8,000 per seat in some other states, whereas the Punjab government was making it available to people free of cost.
Earlier, Kejriwal and Mann flagged off 15 buses under the Mukh Mantri Tirath Yatra Scheme. Kejriwal said three new pilgrimage routes — Salasar-Shri Khatu Shyam, Mathura-Vrindavan and Haridwar-Rishikesh — had been added following public demand.
He said around 1.5 lakh pilgrims would be taken on these three routes over the coming months.
Mann, meanwhile, said the devotional gathering reflected Punjab’s spirit of brotherhood and faith. Beginning his address with ‘Har Har Mahadev’ and ‘Jaikara Veer Bajrangi’, he said large numbers of people had attended the event voluntarily.
“No one has been brought here by offering them any inducement, nor have any tickets been sold. People have come here on their own,” Mann said.
He also spoke about the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana and assured women whose payments had not yet been credited that they would receive their due. “Not a single mother or sister will be deprived of her rightful due,” he said, urging those awaiting payment to complete the required form.
Describing the Hoshiarpur gathering as a “flood of devotion” to Lord Shiva, Mann said people had turned up despite the hot and humid weather, with many families bringing their children along.
The event will also feature singer Kailash Kher, who is scheduled to perform for the gathering.
