The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) arrested 14 persons, including 12 government officials and two private individuals, while allegedly accepting bribes in 14 separate trap cases during July, officials said on Wednesday.
The arrests were part of the Bureau’s ongoing drive against corruption across the state. A VB spokesperson said the agency continued to intensify efforts to curb corrupt practices involving public servants and private persons.
During the month, the Vigilance Bureau also presented challans in 16 vigilance cases before various competent courts, according to the spokesperson.
In addition, the Bureau registered two vigilance enquiries to conduct detailed investigations into alleged corruption cases.
The VB also registered one case relating to disproportionate assets during July.
Separately, five criminal cases were registered against seven accused persons, including five government employees, the spokesperson said.
