The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has stepped up its organisational and public outreach across Punjab, focusing on issues including drugs, unemployment, law and order and the farm crisis, state BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon said on Sunday.
Dhillon said the party was conducting contact programmes at the village and city levels to ensure that people across Punjab were made aware of welfare schemes of the Central government. He said the BJP’s organisational network was being strengthened up to the village and booth levels.
Taking aim at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, Dhillon alleged that Punjab was facing serious challenges, including the drug menace, deteriorating law and order and the migration of young people abroad. He claimed that the state government had failed to provide concrete solutions to these issues.
Dhillon said the BJP was committed to making Punjab a safe, prosperous and progressive state and would continue expanding its grassroots presence to achieve this objective.
As part of preparations for Independence Day, the Punjab BJP is organising the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign from August 9 to 14. Dhillon said ‘Tiranga Yatras’ would be held across districts, cities and villages, with people being encouraged to hoist the National Flag at their homes.
He said Punjab’s identity as a border state and the land of martyrs made the campaign particularly significant and called for widespread public participation in the celebrations.
Dhillon also highlighted the BJP’s ‘Samarasta Sankalp Abhiyan’ being organised in connection with the 650th birth anniversary of Guru Ravidas Ji. Under the campaign, a ‘Kalash Yatra’ carrying sacred soil from Guru Ravidas Ji’s birthplace is travelling through villages across Punjab, particularly in the Doaba region.
He said the yatra aims to take the teachings of Guru Ravidas Ji to the people and promote the message of social harmony and equality.
