The two-day theatrical and musical presentation ‘Humare Ram’ received an enthusiastic response in Mohali, with large crowds turning up at Amity University to witness the production showcasing lesser-known dimensions of the Ramayana.
Sponsored by the Punjab Government through the Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, the production combines theatre, music and storytelling to present untold chapters and timeless values associated with the epic.
Renowned actor Ashutosh Rana emerged as one of the major highlights of the presentation with his portrayal of Ravana. His commanding stage presence and powerful dialogue delivery drew sustained applause from the audience. Rahul Bhuchar, who portrayed Rama, was also appreciated for his nuanced and engaging performance.
The production was further enhanced by musical performances featuring acclaimed singers Shankar Mahadevan, Sonu Nigam and Kailash Kher, adding to the theatrical spectacle.
People from different sections of society attended the two-day presentation and appreciated its scale, performances and contemporary approach to the Ramayana. Several spectators also welcomed the Punjab Government’s initiative to take such cultural productions to audiences across the state, saying they could help younger generations connect with India’s literary and cultural heritage.
As part of the initiative, 41 performances of ‘Humare Ram’ are being staged at different locations across Punjab.
Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal thanked the Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs for giving Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar the opportunity to host the inaugural performances of the production at Amity University, Mohali.
She said it was a matter of pride for the district to host the opening shows of a production that brings lesser-known aspects of the Ramayana and its enduring values to the stage.
Mittal also appreciated the department for taking the production to different parts of Punjab, saying such initiatives can play an important role in strengthening the younger generation’s connect with the state’s cultural heritage and India’s timeless traditions.
