Ferozepur, August 8, 2026 (Vikram Ditya Sharma)

The Counter Intelligence (CI) Ferozepur, in coordination with the Border Security Force (BSF), has arrested two alleged drug smugglers and seized 30.200 kg of heroin in a major operation targeting cross-border narcotics trafficking.

The arrested accused have been identified as Sukhwinder Singh of Walle Shah Uttar village and Manpreet Singh of Nawan Hasta village, both in Fazilka district. Police also seized a Hero Deluxe motorcycle bearing registration number PB-05-AS-9856 from their possession.

According to Punjab Police DGP Gaurav Yadav, the investigation is focused on tracing the forward and backward linkages of the suspected cross-border smuggling network and identifying other individuals associated with handlers operating from across the border.

AIG Counter Intelligence Ferozepur Gursewak Singh said the operation was launched after the joint team received specific intelligence regarding the movement of the suspects.

The CI team, working with BSF personnel from Fazilka, intercepted the two men near Satirwala village on the Hindumalkot road in Fazilka. A subsequent search led to the recovery of 30.200 kg of heroin, police said.

Further investigation is underway to identify the wider network allegedly involved in the smuggling operation. Police said additional arrests and recoveries may follow as the probe progresses.

A case has been registered as FIR No. 14 dated August 7, 2026, at Police Station State Special Operation Cell (SSOC), Fazilka, under Sections 21-C, 25 and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
