Paramjit Singh Kainth, Vice President of BJP Scheduled Caste Morcha Punjab, has strongly welcomed the Centre’s decision to increase the commission of brokers (arhtiyas), describing it as a visionary and farmer-friendly step by the Modi government.
He stated that the commission payable to arhtiyas for procurement of wheat in Punjab and Haryana has been increased from ₹46 per quintal to ₹50.75 per quintal. This decision is a significant step towards strengthening the procurement system for major crops like wheat and paddy.
Kainth said that while certain political forces have been attempting to create confusion among farmers and within the mandi system, this decision clearly demonstrates that the Modi government firmly stands with every stakeholder of the mandi ecosystem—especially arhtiyas, who play a crucial role in ensuring smooth procurement and securing fair prices for farmers. He added that those who misled farmers by claiming that the Modi government intended to dismantle the mandi system have now been exposed.
The BJP leader emphasized that farmers and arhtiyas are not adversaries but partners and key participants in the agricultural economy. “The Modi government understands this reality and is fully committed to safeguarding the interests of both. This increase is not merely financial—it is also a recognition of the role of arhtiyas,” he said.
Criticizing opposition parties, he remarked that those who earlier neglected the mandi system are now questioning reforms. “The truth is that the Modi government works at the grassroots level, while others are engaged only in politics,” he said.
Paramjit Singh Kainth reiterated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, every government decision reflects transparency, fairness, and an inclusive approach. “This decision is not just about increasing commission; it sends a clear message—the Modi government stands firmly with farmers, arhtiyas, and every stakeholder of the mandi system.”
