The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today took serious note of misleading claims of the Punar Surjit Akali Dal regarding the alleged acceptance of a petition filed by it by the Election Commission of India.
In a statement here, senior party leader Dr Daljit Singh Cheema cautioned the leaders of the “Punar Surjit Akali Dal” against spreading false information in the media. “It seems that leaders of this outfit are working under a conspiracy to sow confusion in the minds of Punjabis and claiming legitimacy for their outfit.
Instead of resorting to such cheap politics, the Punar Surjit Akali Dal should first tell whether it has been registered as a political party by the Election Commission. It would be better if this outfit first makes its registration certificate, if any, public before making any other claims”. He also asked the outfit to tender an apology for making false assertions.
Dr Daljit Cheema also said he had also reached out to State Election Commissioner Anandita Mitra and had been informed that she did not have any information about any election petition of the Punar Surjit outfit being accepted by the Election Commission.
