Gagandeep Singh Kaku Ahluwalia, the newly appointed Chairman of the Punjab Khadi and Village Industries Board, took charge of his position today at the Board’s main office located in Chandigarh.
Mainly during this program, Sardar Rajbeer Singh Ghuman Ji, O.S.D (Chief Minister Punjab), administered the charge and congratulated him.
On this occasion, Mohinder Bhagat, Cabinet Minister, Dinesh Dhall, Nitin Kohli, Inderjit Kaur Maan, MLA Nakodar, Maharaj Bansi Das Ji, Baba Pargat Nath Ji, Mayor Vineet Dhir, Mangal Singh Basi (State Chairman Punjab Agro), Abdul Bari Salmani (State Chairman Muslim Development Board), Councilor Deepak Sharda, Master Gaurav, social worker, Robin Sampal, Karan Malli, Narwail Kang, Amit Dhal Councilor, Jagdish Samra, Block President Satnam Singh, Babu Thapar, Chairman Lakhveer Singh, Organization In-Charge Jasveer Singh, Spokesperson Pooja Singh, and Harpal Singh Chaddha were also specially present and congratulated the new Chairman.
On this occasion, Vice Chairman Pawan Hans, Member Secretary, board officials, employees, and various social, religious, and political dignitaries welcomed him wholeheartedly by presenting him with bouquets of flowers.
In the meeting held after assuming office, a detailed discussion was held by the board on various ongoing schemes across the state and future work plans. During this, Ramandeep Singh shared information about the village development schemes running through Khadi institutions and the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Program (PMEGP).
Chairman Gagandeep Singh Ahluwalia, while addressing, said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Khadi and the village industry sector has received new direction in Punjab. He said that this sector not only strengthens the rural economy but also creates large-scale employment opportunities for the youth.
He said that Khadi, as a symbol of Mahatma Gandhi’s thinking, is not just a fabric, but a symbol of self-reliance, Swadeshi, and rural development. By promoting rural industries, the overall development of Punjab can be accelerated.
The Chairman stated that from the year 2016-17 to 2025-26, the board has established several new units providing employment opportunities to thousands of people, and stakeholders have also been provided financial assistance through subsidies. He said that women empowerment and encouraging youth towards self-employment are among the board’s main priorities.
Vice Chairman Pawan Hans said that the board’s schemes are giving a new direction to the youth of the state and that the board is fully committed to the expansion of the Khadi and village industry sector. The Chairman’s personal assistant Arpit Gupta stated that continuous efforts are being made to increase employment opportunities in rural areas.
Similarly, the office superintendent Devendra Singh stated that skill development training programs will also be conducted so that trained youth can be linked to self-employment under PMEGP.
The program was conducted by Amit Chopra, Senior Consultant, Punjab Khadi and Village Industries Board. Finally, the new chairman was congratulated by the board’s officers, employees, and attending dignitaries, and good wishes were expressed for his successful tenure.
