Punjab Governor and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, today released a pictorial coffee table book titled “Sukhna Lake at Dawn”, authored by Harpreet Sandhu, at Punjab Lok Bhavan.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that the beauty of Chandigarh, popularly known as the City Beautiful, is closely associated with the serenity and natural charm of Sukhna Lake. He noted that Sukhna Lake is not only a major tourist attraction but also an integral part of the city’s cultural and environmental heritage, offering a peaceful space for residents and visitors to connect with nature.
Shri Kataria emphasized that maintaining the beauty and ecological balance of Sukhna Lake is a collective responsibility. He stressed that no polluted water should be allowed to enter the lake, as protecting its purity is essential for preserving the natural beauty and ecological health of Chandigarh.
The Governor appreciated the efforts of the author for beautifully capturing the scenic charm of Sukhna Lake through the coffee table book. He said such initiatives help raise awareness among citizens about the importance of protecting natural resources and inspire people to contribute towards keeping Chandigarh clean, green and beautiful.
State Information Commissioner, Punjab, Harpreet Sandhu, expressed his gratitude to the Governor for releasing the book and said that the publication aims to highlight the timeless beauty of Sukhna Lake through photographs captured at dawn, while also encouraging people to cherish and protect this iconic landmark of Chandigarh.
