The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has appointed Charanjiv Singh Lali, a senior party leader from Jalandhar, as a spokesperson of the party and panelist for television debates.
Lali’s name figures in a list of 20 spokespersons and TV debate panelists released by Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema, Senior Vice President and Secretary of the Shiromani Akali Dal, on Wednesday.
A long-time Akali Dal worker, Charanjiv Singh Lali has remained active in social and religious circles in addition to his consistent involvement in party activities.
He joined the Shiromani Akali Dal in 1986 at the young age of 16 and gradually rose through the ranks of the party.
In 1989, he was appointed as a Member of the Executive of the party’s Jalandhar unit. His organisational responsibilities expanded when he was made Secretary in 1991, and later General Secretary in 2001.
Continuing his rise within the party structure, Lali was appointed Media Incharge in 2006, reflecting the leadership’s confidence in his communication and organisational abilities.
Apart from his political roles, he has also served as a Director of the Punjab State Industrial Development Corporation (PSIDC).
In 2022, he was appointed Vice President of the Shiromani Akali Dal, and with his latest appointment, he will now shoulder additional responsibilities as the party’s spokesperson and a panelist representing SAD in television debates.
