Gunjeet Ruchi Bawa, Vice Chairperson, Punjab State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (PSCPCR) visited key Child Care institute in Bathinda to review their functioning and progress. She visited CCI for Boys, Red Cross Adoption Agency and Sri Anant Anath Ashram, Nathana.
During the inspection, she reviewed living conditions, education and healthcare facilities, safety measures and record maintenance. She interacted with children and staff to understand ground-level challenges. She laid emphasis on strict compliance with child protection laws and guidelines. She advised officials to resolve identified gaps promptly and improve coordination among departments.
Ms. Gunjeet Ruchi Bawa also laid down specific guidelines to meet with the needs of children. She directed display of child helpline numbers in schools and institutions, posters regarding child rights should be placed on walls for awareness and regular awareness programs along with counseling sessions for students above 14 years of age must be organised to educate children, parents and staff about child protection laws and support systems.
Later, she held a review meeting with the Mr Rajesh Dhiman, Deputy Commissioner, Bathinda, where she shared key observations. She advised the district administration to strengthen monitoring and ensure timely action and to organize awareness programs on adoption process of special children.
Deputy Commissioner Mr Rajesh Dhiman ensured the implementation of the same. Later, during a meeting with Dr. Jyoti Yadav, SSP, the security concerns of Sakhi Center and POSCO cases were discussed. During this, Ramanjeet CMFO, was also present.
Speaking on the occasion, Gunjeet Ruchi Bawa said, “Every child deserves care, dignity and protection. Awareness and timely action are the strongest tools to safeguard their future.”
