Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria Pays Obeisance at Gurdwara Panj Pyara Sahib, Seeks Blessings for a Drug-Free Society

Gulab Chand Kataria, Governor of Punjab, today paid obeisance at Gurdwara Panj Pyara Sahib in village Nangal Shahidan and sought blessings for peace, prosperity and a drug-free society in the state. The visit preceded the launch of an anti-drug awareness campaign in the district.

Upon his arrival in Hoshiarpur, the district administration accorded a warm welcome to the Governor and briefed him on the preparations and ongoing initiatives under the anti-drug campaign.

Addressing officials and members of the community, the Governor emphasized that collective efforts are essential to eradicate the menace of drugs from society. He urged youth to stay away from substance abuse and adopt a healthy lifestyle, stressing that the vision of a drug-free Punjab cannot be achieved without active public participation.

Highlighting the importance of community engagement, he noted that social awareness, family support and institutional cooperation play a vital role in preventing drug abuse and rehabilitating affected individuals.

It is noteworthy that the Governor will lead the “Walk Against Drugs Padyatra” on February 23 from the Mukerian Tehsil Complex and on February 24 from DAV College of Education, Hoshiarpur, to spread the message of a drug-free Punjab and encourage public involvement in the campaign.

On the occasion, Principal Secretary to the Governor Vivek Pratap Singh, Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Nikas Kumar, SDM Gursimranjit Kaur, and members of the Gurdwara Management Committee were also present.
