Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Harjinder Singh Dhami on Sunday said that the SGPC will take further action in the case relating to 328 sacred saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji strictly in accordance with the directions issued by the Acting Jathedar of Akal Takht, Giani Kuldip Singh Gargaj.
In a statement issued here, Advocate Dhami said that the matter of the missing sacred saroops had earlier been investigated under the supervision of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. Acting on the Akal Takht’s directions at that time, the SGPC had initiated departmental action against employees found responsible in the case.
He said that in light of the fresh directions issued by the Akal Takht, the SGPC will now proceed with the next course of action. Dhami clarified that if the Special Investigation Team (SIT) approaches the SGPC in connection with the case, the committee will extend cooperation and act strictly in line with the spirit and instructions of the Akal Takht Sahib.
Reiterating SGPC’s respect for the authority of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, the SGPC president said that all steps taken by the committee would remain guided by Panthic interests and the sanctity of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
