Amritsar, Dec 6, 2025 (Yes Punjab News)
The Bhindi Saidan incident has caused a major upheaval in Punjab politics. In protest against the attack on Surjit Singh, the Sarpanch of Bhindi Saidan in Rajasansi constituency, and the subsequent filing of false cases against him, his family, and the sitting MLA and his son, the Congress party today announced a complete boycott of the District Council and Block Committee elections in all three constituencies of Rajasansi, Majitha, and Ajnala.
Amritsar MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla, leader Dilraj Sarkaria, former MLA Harpratap Ajnala, and Bhagwant Pal Singh Sachar said at a press conference that the government has tried to manipulate the elections in its Favor with the help of the administration and police, and therefore, Congress will not be a part of any “rigged election.”
MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla said that they do not want anyone else to suffer like Surjit Singh, and no mother’s son should be caught between life and death, which is why they are boycotting the elections.
Congress alleges that the current Sarpanch of Bhindi Saidan was beaten in the presence of police and election officials, and then his house was attacked. Two people are hospitalized as a result, and a video of the entire incident has also surfaced.
Despite this, the police filed false cases against MLA Sukh Sarkaria and his son Dilraj Sarkaria instead of against those who were attacked. The case should have been filed against Aam Aadmi Party’s chief spokesperson Kuldeep Dhaliwal, who is behind all this. The leaders say that this incident proves that the government is trying to suppress the opposition through the misuse of power.
MP Aujla said that the democratic process is being mocked in Punjab, and the administration is being completely used as a political weapon. They also alleged that nomination papers were cancelled in many areas, Congress supporters were threatened, and pressure was exerted in 70 percent of the polling areas with the help of the police and goons.
They said that Congress candidates had filed nominations in every constituency, but today most of the candidates have been rejected. They have the receipts in their hands, but the files are missing, which is a blatant injustice. All the candidates whose nominations were rejected were present at the press conference.
Congress leaders dismissed the allegations made by AAP’s chief spokesperson Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal as false and said that if Dhaliwal is confident about his statements, he should go to Sri Akal Takht Sahib and swear an oath to the truth, so that the real situation can be revealed to the public.
The leaders said that participating in the Zila Parishad and Block Samiti elections under such circumstances would be a compromise with democracy, therefore the Congress has boycotted these elections. They demanded an inquiry into the Bhindi Saidan incident by a High Court judge so that the truth of the entire matter could be revealed.
The Congress party says that the current government is doing politics through police pressure, threats, and false cases. The party believes that the people of Punjab understand this injustice very well and will definitely give a fitting reply to the current government in the 2027 elections.
