AICC Secretary and MLA Pargat Singh, reacting to Captain Amarinder Singh’s statement on the Akali–BJP alliance, said that it clearly shows that no leader in the BJP is heard except Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
Captain Amarinder Singh’s remarks not only confirm this reality but also hold up a mirror to the party. Be it the issue of farmers, the matter of Chandigarh, or concerns related to institutions like Panjab University — the BJP leadership has consistently failed to address Punjab’s interests.
He stated that the ideologies of the two parties are fundamentally contradictory. The BJP aims to centralize everything, weaken the states, and concentrate all power in its own hands. On the other hand, the Shiromani Akali Dal is a regional party. Even when both parties were previously in alliance, they failed to uphold the principle of harmony within Punjab.
Pargat Singh added that Captain Amarinder Singh understands that alliances are often driven by the hunger for power. If the BJP and Akali Dal come together again, it will not be based on principles but for political convenience.
