Ms. Manpreet Kaur, a Ph.D. graduate from the Department of Biochemistry at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), has been selected as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg.
She will join the Department of Food and Human Nutritional Sciences, working in the lab of Dr. Nandika Bandara, Associate Professor and Tier 2 Canada Research Chair (Food Proteins and Bioproducts).Manpreet Kaur will focus on “Exploring novel and sustainable protein extraction and processing technologies for developing functionally enhanced value-added protein ingredients.”
Her Ph.D. research, conducted under the esteemed Prime Minister Research Fellowship, was titled “Biochemical Characterization of Euryhaline Microalgal Strains for Bioactive Metabolites” and was carried out in collaboration with the nutraceutical industry, Chemical Resources, Panchkula, Haryana, India.
Ms. Kaur’s academic journey is marked by numerous accolades and achievements. She has published multiple research papers in reputed journals, with one of her manuscripts recognized as a top-cited paper of 2022-23. She has successfully qualified CSIR-NET-JRF and GATE Life Sciences multiple times.
Throughout her Ph.D., she actively participated in international and national conferences in Australia, Turkey, Canada, and India, earning several awards, including the Best Research Scholar Award, SERB International Travel Grant, and Best Paper Presentation Award. During her master’s in Biochemistry, she secured the GS Sidhu Gold Medal and the Dr. Khush International Travel Award.
