5 girls tie rakhis to Capt Amarinder as token of Raksha Bandhan celebration

In a token gesture of love and respect to mark Raksha Bandhan, five girls from a cross-section of the society on Thursday tied Rakhis on the wrist of Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh.

The Chief Minister offered them sweets and gifts in return, as a mark of his affection on the festival and auspicious occasion, and wished them a bright, happy and prosperous future.

The girls, who also gave sweets to Captain Amarinder and put a Tilak on his forehead, included daughters of two martyred soldiers. Sonia is daughter of martyr Constable Raj Kumar of Rakshak Operation in Jammu and Kashmir, while Bhawna is daughter of martyr Lance Naik Kulwinder Singh of Rakshak Operation.

The others were a Gurdaspur farmer’s daughter Sulekha, student of class III from the local Red Cross School for Deaf and Dumb; Muskan who belongs to an EWS family and is student of local Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Nehru Garden; and Komalpreet Kaur, also from a farming family of village Salempur.
