The 32nd Annual Athletic Meet of Giani Zail Singh Campus College of Engineering and Technology (GZSCCET) and Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Main Campus, concluded with great enthusiasm, showcasing remarkable talent, determination, and sportsmanship among students.
Mr. Mohit Joshi (UBS) and Ms. Pragati Kumari Jha (CSE) were adjudged Best Athletes in the men’s and women’s categories respectively. The prestigious Overall Championship Trophy was won by Batch 2025, marking their outstanding performance across multiple events.
The meet commenced with a grand flag-hoisting ceremony by Vice Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, who also released colorful balloons to formally inaugurate the event. Dr. Gurinderpal Singh Brar, Registrar MRSPTU, and Prof. (Dr.) Sanjiv Kumar Aggarwal, Campus Director GZSCCET, along with senior deans, directors, and faculty members, graced the occasion.
In his address, Prof. Sharma highlighted the vital role of sports in shaping discipline, teamwork, and character among students.
He commended the athletes for their dedication and reiterated the university’s commitment to promoting holistic development. On the occasion, he also released the University Sports Brochure.
The event was organized under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Bhupinder Pal Singh Dhot, Director (Sports & Youth Welfare), MRSPTU. Sports Captains Mohit Joshi (Men’s) and Jiya Saini (Women’s) played an instrumental role in motivating and leading their respective teams.
The organizing committee, led by Dr. Iqbal Singh Brar (Associate Director, Sports & Youth Welfare), Dr. Sukhwinder Singh (DPE), and Sh. Tejinder Singh, ensured the smooth conduct of the meet. Special appreciation was extended to Er. Sunita Kotwal and the student anchors for effective stage management.
The meet featured a wide range of track and field events, with athletes delivering impressive performances across various categories.
