atka Federation USA-an umbrella organization to manage, Standardize, promote & popularize the Gatka-Sikh Martial Art in the USA is hosting 2nd National Gatka Championship-USA on Saturday, September 28th, 2024 at The Sikh Center of New York Inc, NY under the aegis of World Gatka Federation (WGF)-an apex international body for preserving & promotion of Gatka. The management committee of Sikh center has released the poster of US National Gatka Championship.
Gurinder Singh Khalsa, Chairman & Dr. Deep Singh, General Secretary of Gatka Federation USA informed that this will be the 2nd open National Gatka championship, which will be organized by Gatka Federation USA.
However, Gatka Federation has organized several gatka training camps in various states of US with the help of the Gurudwara Committees, Educational Institutes and other sports organizations. Gatka Federation USA is pro-actively working on their state chapters throughout the US.
They further stated that we are expecting Gatka players (Singh & Kaur) from all over USA. Gatka Federation has its State Chapters under the State Gatka Associations which will be send their Players in the different age categories.
S. Kalvinder Singh Fresno, President of Gatka Federation USA has informed that 2nd National Gatka Championship USA will be dedicated to the memory of Baba Banda Singh Bahadar ji, first Sikh General who established Sikh Empire.
He added that there will be fights and demonstration competitions in the different events between different age categories, including a captivating under 14 Demonstration as well as under 17 & 21 age groups combat fights in both men & women categories, all focusing on the Single -Soti individual events.
Purpose of this National Gatka championship is to bring all gatka players, coaches, referees and judges at one platform, & preparing them for the future National Gatka tournaments, seminars and other International Gatka Championships.
Daler Singh, President, Baba Makhan Shah Lobana Sikh Center & Bhai Gagandeep Singh AKJ & Trustee Gurdwara Sikh Cultural Society-New York, & Jaskirat Singh Joint Secretary of New York Gatka Association stated that the aim of this National Gatka Championship is to spread awareness about Sikh Martial Art and introduce the young generation to this rich cultural heritage of Gatka.
On this occasion Sarabjit Kaur, Finance Secretary Gatka Federation USA, Sarabjit Kaur-Westchester County & Sujan Singh, Baljinder Singh Banwait both Senior Coaches from NY were also present.
