11 newly elected Sikh MPs pose together in UK Parliament

All 11 newly elected Sikh Members of Parliament gathered together for the first time in UK Parliament.

Posting a picture of the group on Social Media handle X, Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi, elected third time from Slough, called it a historic moment.

He said, “Historic moment in our @UKParliament when all 11 elected #Sikh Members of Parliament gathered together for the first time.”

Reacting to a Tweet, Dhesi wrote, “In true #Sikh ethos, look forward to serving everyone – regardless of background, or gender, or colour, or creed.”

The 11 MPs elected include 4 Turbaned Sikhs and 6 women.

Dhesi (Slough) and Preet Kaur Gill (Birmingham Edgbaston) have been elected for the third time in a row.

Dhesi was the first turbaned Sikh MP in the UK and Gill was the first Sikh woman MP of the country.

The first-time Sikh men MPs include Gurinder Singh Josan (Sandwell), Jas Athwal (Ilford South), Warinder Singh Juss (Wolverhampton West), Dr. Jeevan Sandher (Loughborough), Baggh Shanker aka Bhagat Singh Shankar (Derby South).

The first-time Sikh women MPs include Satvir Kaur (Southampton Test), Harpreet Kaur Uppal (Huddersfield), Kirith Kaur Ahluwalia aka Kirith Entwistle (Bolton) and Sonia Kaur Kumar (Dudley).
