As Deputy Commissioner (DC) and Superintendent of Police (SP), of Rewari showed lackadaisical attitude in submitting action taken report to the National Commission for Schedule Castes (NCSC) in a stipulated time period regarding the rape incident in which 10-year-old girl from Rewari district of Haryana was raped by 7 boys, six of them juvenile, the Commission now asked Chief Secretary (CS) and Director General of Police (DGP), Haryana to submit the report.
While issuing second reminder notice to the Government of Haryana, Commission Chairman Vijay Sampla, asked the authorities to submit an action taken report till July 30, this year.
The information received by the NCSC from a news story published in “The News (TNN)” on June 11, 2021, under headline: “Girl (10) raped by 7 boys in Rewari, six of them 10-12 years old”—revealed that the girl was raped by the boys on May 24. A group of children playing together at a ground in Rewari disappeared after a while into an adjoining school building where seven boys raped a 10-year old girl. The crime incident came into light in June after a video of the incident, allegedly shot and shared by one or more of the boys, got viral and reached a neighbour, who further informed the victim’s family about the incident.
Meanwhile, Sampla said that the authorities have not submitted the action taken report on this matter even after the lapse of the stipulated time period, when the notice was issued on June 24 and the first reminder notice was issued on July 12, this year.
Even though the fresh reminder notice has been issued to Chief Secretary and Director General of Police, the Commission has sent the copy of the notice to Deputy Commissioner (DC) and Superintendent of Police (SP), Rewari and asked the authorities to look into the matter and to ensure that the said report is submitted to the Commission in the said time period.
