Eminent veteran actress Zeenat Aman has said that strong representation of women in present films is the way it should be, to acknowledge, empower and honour them through films is a really good thing.
“Women have are mothers, nurturers, life givers. They try to give best as wife, mother or at workplace and are backbone of a family through the years so, to acknowledge them and their presence, to empower them and to honour them is really good thing. But today’s female stars have to be careful while choosing roles as a wrong choice affects in long run ” Said 70 year old veteran cine star Zeenat Aman of yester years while speaking at an Interactive session ‘Stories that matter with Zeenat Aman ‘ organised by FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) , the women business wing of trade body FICCI here today .
Zeenat Aman who featured in several successful films like ‘Hare Rama, Hare Krishna’ , ‘Don’, Amar Akbar Anthony’, ‘Qurbani’, ‘Dharam Veer’ ‘Satyam Shivam Sundaram’ amongst others. Talking about how she made choices of films, Aman said, “In life, you have to play with the cards which are there in your hand so, whatever professional offers I had; I made a decision from that. I feel that time and period was different. Now everything is available at your fingertips as social media has opened million doors and now digital platforms rule the world. Everyone has mobile phones and in every second the news goes from here to the corners of the globe.”
“Now, it is all about promotions and social media. For several personal reasons I am not on social media but trolling was done during our times also in different ways . But today due to tough competition in fashion, beauty and Fims one has to give 100% to stray in the fray . No ,” she adds.
“Acting is a craft I was bold enough to take up roles that other celebrities were hesitant to take up. and I am so grateful for this wonderful journey. You tend to take your journey for granted after a while, but when I pause and look back, I feel blessed that I had so many opportunities. I am still alive and kicking it and that’s a blessing, At present I am doing to web series and some plays ” Ms Aman said .
On the lighter side she said “most embarrassing moment for me is when people come and request me to sign autograph as Praveen Babi or Shabana Azmi . We were considered rivals but now in good terms when we meet . The image I have is not me in my real life “
