In the ongoing efforts to eradicate drugs from the city, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Jalandhar, Smt. Dhanpreet Kaur, a special CASO (Cordon and Search Operation) was carried out.
The operation was conducted along with Joint CP Sh. Sandeep Sharma, ADCP-1 Smt. Akarshi Jain, ADCP-2 Sh. Harinder Singh Gill and other senior police officers at various locations across Jalandhar.
For this operation, more than 130 police personnel were deployed to cover 13 identified hotspots, including the Railway Station, Ali Mohalla, Indira Colony, Bhargo Camp, Basti Sheikh, and others. Each hotspot was supervised by officers of ADCP/ACP rank to ensure effective monitoring and coordination.
During the operation, thorough checking of suspected persons, their houses, vehicles, and nearby areas was carried out to curb illegal activities. The CP Jalandhar informed that as a result of this CASO, *the police recovered 32.2 grams of heroin, 13,500 ml of illicit liquor, and 2 motorcycles* A total of *7 accused were arrested, and 7 FIRs were registered* at different police stations in the city.
In addition, local residents were also questioned to gather intelligence regarding nearby drug peddlers and any other suspicious activities in the area.
CP Jalandhar emphasized that no person involved in drug trafficking will be spared, and strict legal action will be taken against all individuals engaged in this illegal trade. She further added that this operation reassures citizens that the police are leaving no stone unturned in their mission to make Punjab drug-free.
