The Shiromani Akali Dal (Democratic) on Wednesday strongly condemned the stone pelting by Punjab Youth Congress workers on a contingent of journalists during a protest rally in Chandigarh, over the new farm laws; in which a TV journalist suffered a head injury.
MLA from Lehra and former Punjab Finance Minister S. Parminder Singh Dhindsa in a statement said that the deadly attack on senior journalist Satender Chauhan, covering the Youth Congress demonstration, had exposed the true face of the Congress.
He said that the journalists had been deliberately targeted by Congress activists. “Every attack on any journalist is condemnable as this is against democracy.
The attack on the fourth pillar is an assault on freedom of expression enshrined in the constitution,” said S. Dhindsa. He further sought action against the perpetrators as per law for attacking and threatening the journalists.
