A very distressing situation has unfolded today at Gurdwara Nanakana Sahib, the birth place of Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Sahib Ji. The Pakistani government has assured us with reliable information from Nanakana Sahib depicting a clear picture where a personal argument between two Muslim groups turned sour.
The deliberate entanglement of a previous marriage issue with a Sikh with this individuals son lead to pelting of stones at the Gurdwara Nankana Sahib . This was quashed by the Pakistani Security forces and the situation was quickly brought under control.
It has also been brought to our attention that the Indian media is spreading misinformation leading to hate and violence between the two communities – The Sikhs and the Muslims.
The Religious Council of the World Sikh Parliament strongly condemns the action which took place at Nanakana Sahib today. We are monitoring the situation very closely; we have seen all the video footages and the culprits can clearly be identified and should be punished by the Pakistani government.
The World Sikh Parliament urges both communities to refrain from falling into the trap of any individuals or groups looking for political gains and disturbing the peace and harmony worldwide.
In history, Gurdwara Nanakana Sahib is not just the birth place of Guru Nanak Sahib Ji, it is also the ground where thousands of Sikhs sacrificed their lives taking to martyrdom for the freedom of the holy Gurdwara from any desecration and oppression.
Where we are thankful to the Pakistani authorities for a quick action, the Religious Council requests them to arrest the culprits and uphold the values of religious freedom.
