Work for planned development: Sarkaria directs officials

Mr. Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria has urged the Housing & Urban Development Department officials to work in a tireless manner so that the State could be ushered to new era of development. The minister made these remarks while presiding over a Maiden meeting with higher officials of the department to take stock of the ongoing development works and other issues. The meeting was held at PUDA Bhawan.

In the meeting, officials of the Country & Town Planning Wing of the Department told that they were working in the direction of preparing master plans of various cities in the State.

So far 43 master plans covering 100 towns had been prepared and of these, 25 master plans had been made revenue based and GIS enabled to facilitate the land owners to know use of their land, the officials explained. The process of issuance of Change of Land Use and approval of layout plans and building plans, the work executed by the CTP Wing was also explained to the Minister.

While discussing the pace of development works in area falling under jurisdiction of GMADA, issue of Kajuali Water Works Project was also discussed. Mr. Sarkaria directed the concerned engineering staff to complete the project on priority so that the residents of Mohali could get ample water supply at the earliest.

While Chief Administrator of GLADA gave details about the status of upcoming International Airport at Halwara. Chief Administrator of Amritsar Development Authority shared the details of Urban Haat Project which is being developed as Tourist & Food Junction on PPP mode.

Apart from above, Chief Administrators of Development Authorities also presented the status of development in various urban estates across the state besides sharing information about the projects lined up to be developed in near future.

Ms. Vini Mahajan, Additional Chief Secretary briefed the Housing & Urban development Minister about various measures adopted in the Department in the last two years aimed at public welfare such as 24×7 water supply in various urban estates, launch of UCIC app to cub the development of illegal colonies, facility of issuance of online CLU etc.

She also brought various issues proving hurdle in development to the notice of the Minister to which the latter assured that he will take up the same with his cabinet colleagues for resolving.

While appreciating the efforts being made by the officers, the Minister exhorted them to ensure that no illegal colonies were developed in the future and asked them to work for providing world class urban development in the State.
