COVID-19 continues to wreak havoc in Punjab. The state Wednesday reported 4970 new positive cases while 69 people lost their lives due to the pandemic in the last 24 hours.
8114 people have lost their lives in the state since the outbreak of the pandemic in 2020. The active cases in the state have now surged to 38866.
The situation is so serious that 495 people in the state were today reported being on Oxygen support while 42 critically ill patients were on ventilator support.
Out of the 69 deaths reported today 10 are from Amritsar. The district-wise figures say tell the following: 7 in Ludhiana, 7 in Ferozepur, 6 in Mohali, 6 in Patiala, 5 in Jalandhar, 5 in Hoshiarpur, 4 in Nawanshahar, 4 in Tarn Taran, 3 in Gurdaspur, 2 each in Bathinda, Fazilka and Pathankot and one each in Barnala and Muktsar.
Out of 4970 new positive cases, a maximum of 879 are from Ludhiana. Mohali reported 692 new cases, Patiala 462, and Jalandhar 422.
