Covid-19 is scaling new heights in Punjab. The second wave, which begun this year is spreading fast. 59 people died and 3176 new positive cases were reported in the state in the last 24 hours.
Earlier, during the second wave and in the year 2021, the highest death figure till now was 58 while 2700 people had tested positive but now the figures that came to light on Friday have exceeded the previous records with the death of 59 people and 3176 people testing positive in a day.
The active cases in the state have climbed to 22652 and 6576 people have succumbed to the pandemic since it started to impact lives in 2020.
The Covid situation in the state continues to be grim and 304 people were Friday reported to be on Oxygen while 25 more critically ill were on ventilator support.
Deaths in the State
Out of the 59 people who lost their lives in the state, 14 deaths were reported from Jalandhar and 14 from Hoshiarpur.
Ludhiana reported 5 deaths, while four deaths each were reported from Amritsar, Bathinda, Kapurthala, and Nawanshahar.
3 people succumbed to Corona in Patiala, 2 in Sangrur and one each in the districts of Mohali, Tarn Taran, Gurdaspur and Ropar.
New Positive Cases
Jalandhar had a Corona blast today with as many as 494 new cases.
Mohali reported 409, Ludhiana 395, Kapurthala 327, Amritsar 304, Patiala 285, Hoshiarpur 202, and 144 new positive cases were reported from Gurdaspur.
