The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab has accused the Punjab government of embezzling crores of rupees in the procurement of 50,000 Corona Care Kits and has written to the Chief Minister seeking a timely and high level inquiry into the scam.
In a statement issued from the party headquarters, senior party leader and MLA Aman Arora exposed the scandal with figures of rates, saying that there was a direct scam of Rs 4 crore in the procurement of Rs 8 crore.
“The government is buying 50,000 covid care kits in bulk at double the market price, while the wholesale price should be 10 to 20 per cent cheaper,” said Arora while referring to the figures.
Aman Arora said that in the quotation taken from the market for all the items and medicines including oximeter in the covid care kits of the government, the total cost of one kit was Rs 943 (including GST on 3 items) while as per Chief Minister Amarinder Singh the Covid Care Kit being purchased by the government is priced at Rs 1700, which is almost double the market price.
Therefore, there has been a direct scam of about Rs 4 crore in the procurement of 50,000 Covid Care Kits worth about Rs 8.5 crore and a high level probe is required in this scam. Aman Arora has written a letter to the Chief Minister seeking a timely and high level inquiry into the scam.
Aman Arora lashed out at the government, saying that though the government had failed on every front, but the Corona epidemic has exposed the government health services. High death rate as compared to the rest of the country due to poor health facilities, has added to the panic among the people.
In view of this, AAP launched an oximeter campaign to wake up the government, save the lives of the people and create awareness. Perturbed by this, Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, Punjab Congress President Sunil Jakhar and Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu were making absurd and negative remarks about AAP’s oximeters, while on the other hand he himself ordered these 50,000 oximeters and a big scam has come to light in this purchase also.
Aman Arora lashed out at Punjab Congress President Sunil Jakhar and asked him to explain why his government had given such a high price for oximeters while he himself had told that the oximeters of Aam Aadmi Party are priced at Rs. 5?.
