Why allot Govt land meant for Public Hospital to Pvt Hospital? Harpal Cheema in Vidhan Sabha

Chandigarh, March 4, 2021 (Yes Punjab News)
Raising the issue of the state government favouring private players in the health sector at Zero Hour in the Vidhan Sabha on the fourth day of the budget session on Thursday, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) senior leader and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Punjab Assembly, Harpal Singh Cheema questioned Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh as to why the land meant for public hospitals was being allotted to private hospitals.

Cheema stated that the Congress government had allotted 1 acre of land that had been allotted for the expansion of Punjab’s best Government Hospital in Mohali, to Max Hospital. He mentioned that the land was allocated to SAS Nagar Medical College which was a 200-bed hospital.

He stated that the hospital was expanding its capacity to 400 beds for which the 1 acre land was allotted to them. However, the Captain government allotted this land to the neighbouring Max Hospital.

“Does Captain Amarinder not want the public health infrastructure in the state to develop? Why is he favouring expensive private players over economic public hospitals?,” questioned Cheema.
