A sacred ‘White Coat Ceremony’ was organised at Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (KCVAS), Amritsar to mark the ceremonial entry of newly admitted students into veterinary profession.
In this ceremony, white coats were presented by the Principal Dr HK Verma to 99 first year students of B.V.Sc. & A.H. degree course.
This special event was presided over by the Principal Dr. Verma in the presence of Dr. AD Patil, Dr SK Kansal, Dr. AM Pande and other faculty members of 1st year. The students exhibited a special verve for this ceremony and cheered their classmates as they received the white coat from the Principal.
In his address, Dr. Verma told the students that the white coat identifies the wearer as a trained Vet. As you wear, this coat brings the responsibilities on your shoulders to keep the prestige, honour and significance of this white coat.
He emphasized upon the responsibilities attached with it and elaborated at length on the duties of the veterinarians as the custodians of animal health and welfare.
Dr. Verma exhorted the students to never shy away from serving the marginal, landless & small farmers whose only source of livelihood is the few livestock they own. He further advised the students regarding the expectations of the society and responsibilities appropriate for the veterinary professions.
Being admitted to veterinary profession, embrace the privilege of white coat – symbol of commitment to veterinary & animal husbandry excellence. Journey is not just acquiring knowledge but having compassion & dedication.
It is a sort of pledge administered to the students for acquiring knowledge and skills for the benefit of society through protection of animal & poultry health, welfare and to free them from sufferings.
Vets will always in demand till Homosapiens & Society survives. Dr. SK Nagpal, Managing Director congratulated the students on acquiring the white coat & advised to keep its prestige. Dr. Patil welcomed the Principal while Dr. Anushri Pandey proposed vote of thanks.
