Vijay Inder Singla pays reverence to Maharaja Ranjit Singh on his birth Anniversary

School education and public works minister Punjab Mr. Vijay Inder Singla, on Friday, paid reverence to Sher-e-Punjab Maharaja Ranjit Singh here at Badrukhan village, birthplace of the first Sikh emperor.

While paying obeisance at local gurudwara, the cabinet minister said that apart from unifying various Misals, the Maharaja has also left behind a legacy of reforms, modernization and cultural renaissance. He added that due to Covid-19 pandemic, their government has decided to commemorate the day in a simple manner.

Mr. Vijay Inder Singla said that CM Captain Amarinder Singh led Punjab government has also allocated Rs. 1 crore in this fiscal budget for the construction of memorial and preservation of belongings of Sher-e-Punjab.

He added that citing technical error in the statue of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, the villagers stopped the installation of statue in Badrukhan village but now their government has decided to crave a new statue which would be installed on the designated location within a year.

Mr. Singla also announced that repair works and widening of roads connecting Badrukhan village would be done soon and process regarding same would be initiated soon. He added that to provide required facilities at village stadium, directions have already been conveyed to officials concerned.

On this occasion, Senior leader Daaman Thind Bajwa, DC Ramvir, SSP Vivek Sheel Soni, SDM Babandeep Singh Walia, Chairman DPC Rajinder Singh Raja Bir Kalan, SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal and several others were also present.
