Vigilance nabs BDPO red handed for taking bribe

State Vigilance Bureau today nabbed a Block Development & Panchayats Officer (BDPO) posted at Patran, Patiala district red handed for accepting bribe of Rs.4500.

Disclosing this here today a spokesman of Vigilance Bureau Punjab said Sanjeev Kumar, BDPO was caught red handed on the complaint of Shamsher Singh, Panchayats officer posted at BDPO office, Patran, Patiala.

Giving details he said the complainant approached the VB and alleged that the above said BDPO was demanding bribe of Rs. 2000/- more to pass medical bills pertaining to his family members. He also alleged that the accused BDPO was also demanding ‘monthly’ of Rs. 5000 from him.

After verifying his complaint the VB team laid a trap and the accused BDPO was caught red handed and the bribe money of Rs.4500 was recovered from him in the presence of two official witnesses. He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against both the accused at VB police station Patiala and further investigation was under progress.
