Vigilance Bureau nabs Sub inspector of Punjab Roadways red handed for taking bribe

State Vigilance Bureau nabbed Sub Inspector Gurmej Singh of Punjab Roadways Ferozepur depot red handed for accepting bribe of Rs. 10,000/-.

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of Vigilance Bureau Punjab said accused Gurmej Singh was caught red handed on the complaint of Gurcharan Singh conductor, working in same depot. Giving details he said the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the above named Inspector was demanding bribe of Rs. 16000 for not take any action against him after checking of oil filing station and the deal was struck at Rs. 10,000.

After verifying his complaint the VB team laid a trap and the accused was caught red handed with Rs. 10,000 and tainted money was recovered from him in the presence of two official witnesses.

He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at VB police station Ferozepur and further investigation was under progress.
