“Vairagya Aur Balidan Ka Chandni Chowk” a Book on Martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and Sikhs written by SCD Govt College Alumnus released

A book “Vairag aur Balidan Ka Chandni Chowk” in commemoration of the 350th year of supreme martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and his Sikhs, edited by ex-student Brij Bhushan Goyal was released at his alma mater SCD Government College, Ludhiana.

Principal Gursharan Jit Singh Sandhu while appreciating the efforts of his ex-students said that the author has reproduced very important articles of scholars from the archives of his college in a suitable manner at one place. It is a matter of pride for us as many ex-students have contributed to this book and paid tribute on the 350th year of martyrdom. This book connects us to the historical moments when our Guru Sahib and his Sikhs sacrificed themselves in the defence of personal freedom of religion. On this occasion, former students Navdeep Singh (Former Director FM Gold AIR), K B Singh (Former DGM PNB), Captain Ajit Singh Gill were especially present. College teachers Prof. Harmeet Kaur Jhajj, Prof. Amita Rowle, Prof. Geetanjali Pabreja, Prof. Nishi Arora, Dr. Saurabh Kumar and Prof. Paramjit Chander and College Librarian Bharpur Singh were also present.

Dr. Mukti Gill, Director Khalsa Diwan has said in the beginning of the book that such a book can only be felt. The dedication of the author is clearly felt in the editing of this work. The balance of history and spirituality is the biggest feature of this book. Punjab Kala Parishad Chairman Swaranjit Swai, who also studied in the same college, has also appreciated the collection of many scholarly articles by an old student.

Editor-writer Goyal said that since this book is in Hindi, people outside Punjab will also be able to know the supreme dispassion and martyrdom of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji for the sake of truth and human values. Compiling this book has been a transforming occasion for me, he said.
