To prevent the prisoners from covid epidemic, vaccination has been started in Kapurthala Central Jail, which becomes the first jail in Punjab to provide this facility.
In this regard Additional District and Sessions Judge Rajwinder Kaur and CJM cum Secretary District Legal Services Authority Ajitpal Singh formally launched the vaccination in Jail .
She has also asked the officials from Jail department that the health protocol and restrictions imposed by the Punjab government must be implemented in true spirit and manner to save the prisoners and detainees from covid. She said that all precautionary measures must be taken.
Both officials listen to the grievances of the inmates and take necessary steps for their immediate solution.
The judicial authorities directed the Jail Administration and the District Legal Services Authority, Kapurthala to ensure the provision of free legal services to every needy detainee and prisoner. She said that orders have been issued to settle the custody cases in the district courts on priority basis.
Later, the judges visited the Women’s Barracks and listened to the problems of women prisoners. The food provided to the prisoners and detainees was checked.
