UIDAI DG Bhawna Garg reviews Adhaar enrolment in Jalandhar

Unique Identification Authority of India’s Deputy Director General Bhawna Garg on Tuesday reviewed the progress of Aadhaar enrolment in the district besides stressing on the need to expedite enrolment in age group 0-5 years and 5-18 years.

Accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori, The Deputy Director General asked the officials to speed up the Aadhaar enrolment in the district. She said that more Aadhaar enrolment kits must be made operational in Aaganwari centres and schools so that population below 18 years could be covered expeditiously while mentioning that a total of 177 Aadhaar enrolment centres were functional in district.

Garg emphasized the need for updating mandatory biometrics (MBUs), the fingerprints and iris scan of children after they attained the age of 5 and 15 years. She said that for any demographic updation such as update /correction in Name, Date of Birth, Gender and Address, charges are Rs 50 and for biometric update i.e. update in photograph or updating iris or fingerprints in Aadhaar, charges are Rs 100. In case of overcharging, residents can lodge grievance at toll free number 1947.

Deputy Director General said the resident must check their details carefully while enrolling/updation for Aadhaar as there is a limit for updating details like name, date of birth and Gender in Aadhaar. While name in Aadhaar can be updated twice, date of birth can be updated once and also gender can be corrected once.

She also informed that Aadhaar also offers self-service update facility to residents, who want to update demographics information in Aadhaar including name, Gender, Date of Birth and Address online.

To update demographics details online, it is essential that mobile number of resident is registered in Aadhaar, she said and added that residents can order Aadhaar PVC card from UIDAI website by paying fees of Rs 50. Resident can download mAadhaar on their mobile phones which allows them not only to carry Aadhaar on their mobile phones but also helps residents to avail many online Aadhaar services.

Meanwhile, Ghanshyam Thori instructed the officials who were attending the meeting to accomplish the given tasks well within the stipulated timeframe.

DIO NIC Ranjeet Singh, DFSC Harveen Kaur, Deputy DEO Rajiv Joshi, DM Sewa Kendra Harpreet Singh and others were present.
