Tytler issue: Youth Akali Dal protests against Gandhi Family & Punjab Congress leaders

Muktsar, November 1, 2021 (Yes Punjab News)
The Youth Akali Dal (YAD) today held protests at all districts to condemn the Congress party’s decision to reward 1984 genocide perpetrator Jagdish Tytler with a top post, even as YAD President Parambans Singh Romana asked both chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi and Pradesh Congress President Navjot Sidhu to tell Punjabis why they had not registered their protest against the move.

The YAD activists burnt the effigies of Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Navjot Sidhu, Charanjit Channi and Jagdish Tytler on the occasion.

YAD President Parambans Romana while leading the protest here, said it was two days since former PCC chief Sunil Jakhar had accused the chief minister of being privy to the decision and even agreeing to the same during his recent visit to Delhi. “Mr Channi is yet to reply to this accusation indicating it is true”.

Mr Romana said similarly Sidhu claimed to have taken a stand against Advocate General APS Deol for representing the accused in the Bargari sacrilege case in court as a lawyer, but was yet to speak up against the appointment of Tytler, who had the blood of thousands of Sikhs on his hands. Asking Sidhu why he had not taken a stand on an issue which touched the collective psyche of the Sikh community, he said “it appears you don’t have the moral courage to speak the truth before the Gandhi family after groveling at their feet to secure your appointment as the Pradesh Congress President”.

The YAD President also read out the Nanawati Commisison report which had indicted Jagdish Tytler on the occasion. Giving details of the Commission, which was formed by former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajyapee at the instance of S Parkash Singh Badal, the youth leader said “the Commission in its report made it clear that Tytler was involved in the attack on Sikhs and their properties”.

He said the Commission also listed a witness – Jasbir Singh as having said that Tytler came to the spot and even braided Congress leaders for not carrying out his instructions faithfully by indulging in nominal killings of Sikhs in his constituency. He said the Commission while stating that there was credible evidence against Tytler, asked the union government to take action against Tytler.

Mr Romana said the then UPA government did not take any action against Tytler and even now the Gandhi family was bent on rehabilitating him by appointing him as a permanent invitee to the Delhi Congress. He said the Gandhi family had all along protected and promoted Congress leaders involved in the 1984 massacre of Sikhs be it Tytler, Sajjan Kumar or Kamal Nath.

The youth leader said the SAD would continue to fight for the victims of the 1984 state sponsored massacre till all its victims were awarded just compensation and rehabilitated. “If the CBI is re-investigating the case it is because of the efforts of former union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal. We stand for the strictest possible punishment for those who committed this crime against humanity”, he added.
