The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has suspended two employees who misbehaved with elderly devotee during early morning Sewa (voluntary service) of Palki Sahib (palanquin) at Sri Harmandar Sahib on Thursday. Moreover, he has also ordered an in-depth probe into this matter.

Giving information in this regard, SGPC additional secretary S. Partap Singh said that during the Sewa of palanquin, a devotee had jumped over the safety grill and came in the passage of the same.

“A video related to this incident went viral on social media, after which, the SGPC conducted a preliminary enquiry and immediately suspended two employees who misbehaved with the concerned devotee. Those suspended include sewadars (attendants) Bhai Inderjit Singh and Bhai Kulwinder Singh”, said S. Partap Singh.

He said although the elderly devotee interfered in the management by forcibly violating the restrictions placed during the Sewa of Palki Sahib and also argued with the attendants, but still due to misbehaviour by attendants while handling the concerned devotee, they have been suspended.

S. Partap Singh said that the respect of the Sangat (devotees) of the utmost importance.

“Although in CCTV camera footage, an elderly devotee is seen jumping over a safety grill and arguing with present attendants, misbehaviour with any devotee cannot be tolerated”, said S. Partap Singh.

He appealed to the Sangat to cooperate in the management of Sri Harmandar Sahib.
