Tript Bajwa announces free breeding scheme of livestock till March 15, 2020 across Punjab

The Punjab Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries Minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa today said that 4,40,000 buffaloes / cows are being provided free quality semen for breeding to improve the quality of livestock in the state.

The Minister said that this scheme is being run in the state under the Government of India scheme for the improvement of livestock. He said that the scheme has been started in all 22 districts of the state and the scheme would run till March 15 next year.

Mr. Bajwa said that under this project 100-100 villages have been selected from every district of Punjab and 200 cattles are being provided free breeding with standard quality semen for breeding in every village. He said that in order to successfully implement this program in the state, the semen station of the department has a sufficient amount of frozen semen straws available.

Secretary Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries, Mr Raj Kamal Chaudhari has appealed to the people of the state to get maximum benefit under the scheme to improve the quality of the livestock.

He said that this would improve the breed of buffaloes / cows and increase the production of milk. He also hoped that this initiative would be of great help to make the dairy farming business more productive.

Director Animal Husbandry Department Inderjit Singh has appealed to the people that for any information regarding the scheme, they can contact Deputy Director of the Animal Husbandry Department in their respective districts, who have been appointed as nodal officers for the implementation the scheme.
