As India prepares to celebrate its 80th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday urged citizens to participate enthusiastically in the Centre’s ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, describing the national flag as a symbol of pride and a constant source of inspiration.
This year’s campaign is being organised around the theme of ‘Vande Mataram’, coinciding with the 150th anniversary of the national song.
Sharing a post by the Ministry of Culture on X, Prime Minister Modi said the Tricolour was “our pride and a constant source of inspiration to always give our best for the nation”. He called upon citizens to join the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ movement and renew their collective commitment towards building a Viksit Bharat.
“Glad that this year’s efforts are dedicated to Vande Mataram and that too at a time when we are marking its 150th anniversary,” he said.
The Ministry of Culture said the spirit of ‘Vande Mataram’ had inspired generations over the past 150 years and called for its message to resonate across the country during the Independence Day celebrations.
It said the campaign would feature Tiranga Yatras, rallies, concerts and mass singing of ‘Vande Mataram’. The ministry also highlighted ‘Suryapath Tiranga’, describing it as a first-of-its-kind global celebration aimed at bringing Indians across the world together around the Tricolour.
The ministry has urged citizens to hoist the national flag at their homes and upload their selfies through the official ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign website.
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched ‘Tiranga Yatras’ in several states, with party leaders saying the initiative was aimed at honouring the sacrifices of freedom fighters and martyrs.
In Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav participated in a Tiranga Yatra in Bhopal and recalled the contribution of revolutionaries and freedom fighters to India’s independence.
In Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also joined a Tiranga rally. He emphasised the role of youth in meeting the country’s future challenges and said young people needed the right opportunities, along with traditional education, to contribute effectively to society and the nation.
