A tragic road accident in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur district on Monday morning has claimed nine lives and left at least 33 others injured, after a bus and a car collided head-on on the Dasuya-Talwara Road, near village Saggran.
According to eyewitnesses, the collision was extremely severe, causing the bus to overturn and land on its side. Local residents quickly responded, rushing to the scene and helping to rescue trapped passengers from both vehicles.
Emergency services were immediately alerted, and the injured were rushed to the Government Hospital in Dasuya. A bystander reported that six people died on the spot, while several others sustained critical injuries.
Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain, speaking to the media, confirmed that a total of 27 people had been transported to the hospital, with the Civil Surgeon personally overseeing medical care for the victims. “Our priority is to ensure timely and adequate treatment for those injured,” she said.
The accident has once again raised concerns about road safety and speeding on narrow rural highways in Punjab. Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash, and further updates are expected as the situation develops.
