BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh today came down heavily on senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram for his “blatant lies” on Operation Bluestar. Chugh asked how it is even conceivable that tanks and cannons were brought into the sanctum of Shri Harmandir Sahib without the express consent and orders of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. “To claim otherwise is to insult the memory of those dark days and to brazenly whitewash history,” Chugh said.
He further reminded the nation that it was the Congress party that protected and sheltered the perpetrators of the 1984 Sikh massacre for four long decades. Leaders like Jagdish Tytler, Sajjan Kumar, and HKL Bhagat—accused in the most brutal killings of Sikhs across 52 districts of India—were shielded and rewarded by the Congress establishment.
Chugh also said it is the Modi Government that finally paved the way for justice to the families who suffered in the 1984 Sikh pogrom—whether it was constituting Special Investigation Teams, providing rehabilitation, fair compensation, or job security to the victims’ families. While Congress leaders were busy planning and orchestrating the massacre, it was BJP and RSS karyakartas who stood with the Sikh community and healed the families in their darkest hours.
Chugh also questioned why Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi continue to ignore the cries of justice from the widows of the 1984 Sikh massacre. “The wounds of thousands of Sikh families remain open because Congress has consistently chosen to stand with the killers rather than with the victims,” he said.
He also demanded clarity from Punjab Congress leaders Charanjit Singh Channi, Partap Singh Bajwa, and Amarinder Singh Raja Warring. “Do they stand with the Sikh families who suffered unimaginable pain, or do they stand with the Congress party which orchestrated and defended this pogrom?” Chugh asked, calling upon them to speak openly and not hide behind silence.
