BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh has condemned in the strongest terms the casteist and derogatory remarks made by Punjab Congress President and Ludhiana MP Amarinder Singh Raja Warring against late Shri Buta Singh Ji, former Union Home Minister and former Chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes.
Chugh said Raja Warring’s statement, in which he mocked the late leader’s skin colour and background, is a disgrace of the highest order and a direct insult to the Majhabi Sikh Scheduled Caste community to which Buta Singh Ji belonged.
Calling it a reflection of Congress’s anti-Dalit mindset, Chugh said this shameful comment has hurt the sentiments of millions of Scheduled Caste citizens who revere Shri Buta Singh Ji as a symbol of self-respect and empowerment.
Chugh further stated that the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) has now taken suo motu cognizance of the matter and issued notices to the Deputy Commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police, Tarn Taran, seeking an action-taken report under the powers vested in it by Article 338 of the Constitution of India.
“The Congress leadership must apologise to the nation and to every Scheduled Caste citizen for this despicable insult. Raja Warring’s words expose the real face of Congress — a party that thrives on using the poor and downtrodden for votes but holds contempt for their dignity,” Chugh said.
Chugh said that this is not a one of incident, it has been the history of the congress party to demean and disrespect the marginalized, ever since independence be it then PM Nehru rejecting the Kaka Kalelkar report or Indira and Rajiv Gandhi ignoring the Mandal Commission or the current congress leader Rahul Gandhi saying against the affirmative action reservation on foreign soil.
He added that the BJP and the Modi government have worked tirelessly to restore the pride, representation, and dignity of Scheduled Castes, and that no political leader will be allowed to demean the community under any circumstances.
