The newly appointed Chairman of PUNSUP Mr. Tajinder Singh Bittu today said that he would accord top priority towards ensuring clean, effective and transparent administration in the corporation.
Interacting with the media persons during his first visit to the native city after assuming office of the Chairman in prestigious corporation, Mr. Bittu, flanked by hundreds of Congress leaders and workers, said that the state government led by Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh was committed for ensuring clean, transparent and responsive administration to the people.
He said that the same commitment would be applied in the Corporation to ensure that more and more people were benefitted from it. Mr. Bittu said that every effort would be made to further streamline the working of the Corporation for facilitating the people.
The Chairman further said that the mechanism of Public Distribution System would be further improved for ensuring that more and more people were able to get the benefits of this pro-people scheme.
Likewise, he said that viable mechanism would also be evolved for further strengthening the mid day meal scheme in the government schools. Mr. Bittu said that major thrust would be laid on ensuring that interests of the beneficiaries were safeguarded through these schemes.
The Chairman further said that focus would also be laid on solving the problems, if any faced, by the farmers during the procurement as the agency procured more than 24% of the food grains for the state. He said that each and every grievance of the food growers would be redressed and their interests would be safeguarded on priority.
Earlier, thousands of workers from the region gave a rousing welcome to the chairman during his arrival at the local Circuit House.
On the occasion Lok Sabha MP Chaudhary Santokh Singh, MLAs Mr. Pargat Singh, Mr. Sushil Kumar Rinku, Chaudhary Surinder Singh and Mr. Hardev Singh Laddi Sherowalia, former MLA Mr. Kamaljeet Singh Lally, Senior Deputy Mayor Mrs. Surinder Kaur and Deputy Mayor Mr. Harsimran Jit Singh Bunty, President District Congress (Rural) Mr. Sukhwinder Singh Lally, President District Youth Congress Mr. Ashwin Bhalla and others congratulated Mr. Bittu.
