Mrs Surjit Kaur of village Kular and Mr Darshan Singh of village Tahli have been elected chairman and vice-chairman of Zila Parishad Jalandhar respectively in the presence of state revenue minister Gurpreet Singh Kangar, Lok Sabha MP Chaudhary Santokh Singh and Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma on Friday.
Addressing the gathering during the election ceremony, Minister called upon the newly elected chairman and vice-chairman to ensure holistic development of villages by implementing the programs of state government at the ground level and cement the bonds of communal harmony, peace and brotherhood on the other.
Mr Kangar assured fulsome support and cooperation to them for comprehensive development of the villages.
The Minister said that the Punjab Government under the visionary leadership of the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh was committed for putting the state on a high growth trajectory. He told that massive efforts were already on foot to make sure Punjab was made front ranking state in every sphere.
The Minister told that under the leadership of visionary Chief Minister, the state government has fulfilled every promise made with the people.
He said that Punjab has been already made a drug free state by initiating severe action against the drug peddler. Likewise, he said that major drive has been initiated to promote sports and provide recruitment to the youth so that their unbounded energy could be utilized in a positive direction.
On the occasion, Member of Parliament Chaudhary Santokh Singh, Former MP Mr Mohinder Singh Kaypee, Kartarpur MLA Chaudhary Surinder Singh, Shahkot MLA Mr Hardev Singh Laddi Sherowalia, Former MLA Mr. Jagbir Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma, Additonal Deputy Commissioner Mr Jasbir Singh, PPCC General Secretary Mr Vikramjeet Singh Chaudhary and others were present.
