Holder Army XI and Indian Navy Mumbai teams locked 1-1 draw in Pool A to split One One Point each of the 36th Indian Oil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament at Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium here this evening. The second match in Pool B between Punjab & Sind Bank Delhi and Air India Mumbai ended with 3-3 draw.
In Pool A league match Indian Navy Mumbai and Army XI played good hockey. First half of the match was goalless. In the second half of the match Indian Navy earned penalty corner their Sanjit Toppo convert it to get lead (1-0).
In the 43rd minute of the play Army XI’s Rahul Rathee netted the ball from the top of the striking circle (1-1). With this draw Army have 4 points from two league outings. They won their first match against ONGC by 3-0. Where as Indian Navy have only one point from two outings as they lost their first match from Indian Oil Mumbai.
In second match in Pool B Punjab & Sind Bank Delhi and Air India Mumbai played attacking Hockey. In the second quarter’s 16th and 18th minute Bank scored two goals in a row. In 16th minute International Satbir Singh struck from the pass of Parvinder Singh (1-0). In 18th minute Ranjodh singh of Bank scored (2-0).
In 20th minute Air India reduced the margin with field goal by Ashish Kumar Topno (1-2). In 22nd minute Gaganpreet Singh consolidated the lead for Bank from penalty corner conversion (3-1). At half time Bank was leading by 3-1. In last quarter’s 51st minute Air India’s Vanay Rana reduced the margin (2-3).
In 53rd minute Air India equalized from the field goal by Mohd. Raheel (3-3). With this draw Bank bagged 2 points from two ouyting s as their first match against Punjab Police also ended in draw. Where as Air India have also have two points from two outings. As their first match against Indian Railways also ended draw.
