Sumedh Saini Case: Punjab Police raids in Delhi to nab ‘absconding’ former DGP

New Delhi, September 10, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Punjab Police Thursday conducted raids in Delhi in search of former DGP Sumedh Saini who is accused in a 29 years old case of abduction, disappearance and murder of Balwant Singh Multani.

The SIT swooped at four places in Delhi. It got information about another house in Panchsheel Park, where he could be found. That house was also searched but Saini was not available at any of the places searched by the SIT.

Saini and his family had left for an undisclosed place leaving the entire team of their Z Security Cover at their residence in Chandigarh.

Punjab & Haryana High Court had denied bail to Saini in view of murder charges added to the FIR registered against him at Matour Police Station.

The High Court had also dismissed his petition seeking transfer of case outside Punjab or to handover the same to the CBI.

Saini is now left with only one option of approaching Supreme Court to get a bail.

The SIT had to pull up their socks as pressure is mounting on Punjab Police to arrest Saini. Some of the opposition parties have alleged that the Police were not serious about Saini’s arrest and he was allowed to abscond even as he had Z security cover.Yes Punjab Online Since 2012
